CEO Message on Sustainable Practices
Since our founding in 1960, Sealed Air’s leadership has been based on meeting the packaging needs of customers with products and services reflecting the challenge of balancing economic efficiency and performance with environmental impact, energy and natural resource conservation
Our responsibilities to meet these challenges are growing, as are our opportunities – and today, we continue to be part of a solution. Our experience and expertise as a performance solutions provider for food and protective packaging has led to the development of new markets, products and technologies whose attributes contribute to a healthier and better world now and for generations to come.
In some ways our business is very simple – Our Products Protect Your Products®. Our goal is to provide the maximum amount of packaging protection while minimizing the amount of packaging our customers require to ship products safely. Performance is crucial, as is collaboration and sharing ideas that help customers achieve their own sustainability objectives – from lowering emissions to developing advancements in food safety.
Within our own operations, we established a global environmental database that measures the progress our manufacturing facilities achieve in improving environmental performance. This database tracks waste quantities, recycling accomplishments, energy usage, water usage, emissions and many other important measures to provide for analysis and planned improvement.
We take pride in the fact that our products reach more than three quarters of the world’s population and the value we create for customers. But in order to sustain growth, we must continually improve. As such, we pledge to challenge ourselves to meet new metrics addressing social equity and environmental health; to provide a safe workplace where employees can train and grow; and to maintain our high ethical standards and compliance in every country we do business.
As we identify new growth platforms and expand into new geographies, we will be driven by the idea that “performance matters” and the knowledge that our accomplishments must only be achieved without ever losing sight of the future.
